Around the world  in diaspora communities, ethnic Greek costumes are worn with pride during Greek national holidays…and oftentimes for traditional Greek dance performances. In Greece, the Changing of the Guard occurs every Sunday morning before the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and is a wonderful display of some of the most ornate designs of the Greek Evzone attire. Traffic along Vasilissis Sofia and Vasilissis Amalias Avenue in front of the Hellenic Parliament is stopped for nearly an hour as a display of guards dressed in traditional military uniform marches in front of the Hellenic Parliament in Syntagma Square to the back end of the National Gardens. Even off-season, dozens of curious tourists gather to observe the proceedings. If you ever find yourself in Athens on a Sunday, make sure to pass by Syntagma around 11 a.m. to see the Changing of the Guard for yourself!
