NEW YORK - The National Hellenic Student Association (NHSA) of America held its 20th Convention October 12th - 14th in the heart of New York City during a weekend of professional development, presentations, networking and socializing.
Over 100 students, young professionals, mentors and industry experts attended the event, which featured speakers and moderators including WCBS’s John Metaxas, CEO of American Network Solutions Philip Christopher, Consul General of Greece in New York Konstantinos Koutras, Ambassador Loucas Tsilas, and Associate Director of Immunity & Inflammation at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals,
Dr. Dimitris Skokos.
“One of the most important tasks in science is cross-functional interaction. Collecting brilliant minds to work together. It is a simple formula. We all work together, or we all fail together,” Skokos said.
Saturday’s conference took place at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in Times Square, hosted by Skadden Associate Harry Koulos. The event was emceed by Portes Magazine Editor Anthe Mitrakos and Project Manager at Epic, Yannis Metaxas.
NHSA Convention sponsors Nikolas Smyrlakis of Roots Spirits and Yannis Varellas Ouzounopoulos of Olyra Foods, as well as The Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce and the National Hellenic Society, also presented.
“...no matter what you’ve studied or practiced or worked on, what country you were born in or move to, don’t forget to be compassionate, curious, and courageous,” NHSA President Alexander Thomopoulos said.
The 20th NHSA Convention included a meet and greet night, conference, mentor luncheon, Greek night and tour of New York City.
